Topic 1: Recap of Emergency Paid Sick Leave Act and Emergency Family and Medical Leave Expansion Act
By now, most small businesses, including ones that were not normally covered by any employment laws, had a crash course on new laws passed due to the Coronavirus pandemic. While these laws will expire on December 31, 2020 and most of us have either returned employees to work or are in the process of filling our workforce, these laws are still in effect and employers must be certain they continue to comply. Join us for a refresher course on these laws we quickly implemented.
Topic 2: An Unseen Product of Coronavirus 19: An Increase in Union Organizing
Yes, I know we are in Alabama and, in general, Alabama and, particularly south Alabama, is not a union-friendly environment. Coronavirus, however, is turning out to be a boon for union organizers based on numerous factors – employee safety concerns, employee misconceptions and an angst all of us are feeling at this time. Join us to discuss how to prevent your company from being a union target, and, in the event you are targeted, what you can and cannot do in your quest to remain union-free.
