The Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (PWFA), which took effect on June 27, 2023, requires employers to provide reasonable accommodations to employees with known limitations related to pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions.
The PWFA requires employers to respond promptly to accommodation requests. Employers can request supporting documentation from an employee only when it is reasonable under the circumstances.
