    SHRM Certification

    SHRM certification is the only HR certification offered by the world's largest HR membership organization. As the industry leader in HR professional development, SHRM has supported more than 100,000 employers representing 140 million employees worldwide. Study on your own or with an instructor and earn your HR certification online with remote or in-person testing.
    Once certified, your recertification cycle begins the day you pass the exam and ends three years later, on the last day of your birth month.
    Recertification Cycle Example:
    • Your birth month is July.
    • You take and pass the exam on May 3, 2025.
    • Initial recertification cycle start date: May 3, 2025.
    • Cycle end date: July 31, 2028.
    • Certification revoked: September 30, 2028.
    You must complete your recertification within this three-year time frame. Credential-holders who do not complete these requirements then enter a 60-day grace period. However, the recertification fee increases by $75, and your certification will be revoked at the end of the grace period if your recertification is not completed by then.     HRCI Certification

    Many members are certified as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR), Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), or Global Professional in Human Resources (GPHR). Certification extends for three years. Individuals can recertify by either re-taking the exam or earning 60 recertification credit hours. Members can earn recertification credits by attending chapter meetings and workshops, and SHRMBC workshops and conferences, instructing/presenting at chapter meetings or workshops, or assuming, i.e., serving on the board or chairing a committee. Further details, including the recertification application form, can be found at www.hrci.org.
